WGIL: Kirk Says Employment Should be Priority Number One

February 22nd, 2010

The Republican nominee for U.S. Senate says employment should be the top concern of elected officials in Illinois and the nation.

Congressman Mark Kirk (R-Highland Park) says the economy is also of great concern to him.

“I think that the overspending by this congress represents a real danger to our longterm economic future,” Kirk said. “We need some basic reforms that would help out the economy in Illinois.”

Kirk says he is concerned about medical malpractice in the state. He says once again doctors are fleeing the state.

Kirk also says corruption continues to hamper efforts in Springfield and the rest of the state.

“Every Illinois family pays a hidden corruption tax,” Kirk said. “It’s why the economies for example of Indiana and Iowa are doing better than we are.”
